At its annual general meeting last week, SAVCA announced the appointment of four leading investment executives to the South African private equity industry association’s board. Two long-serving board members – Dave Stadler, SAVCA Chairman and Paean Private Equity‘s CEO, and Siyabonga Nhlumayo, the board’s Treasurer and a Partner at Medu Capital – are stepping down.
The new additions to the 13-member board are Juan Coetzer, Head of Private Equity at Ashburton, Cathy Goddard, the CEO of Firebird Fund Managers , Vusi Thembekwayo, the CEO of MyGrowth Fund and Keet van Zyl, a Founding Partner of high-profile venture capital firm, Knife Capital.
Welcoming the appointments, outgoing Chairman Dave Stadler noted, “Each new board member brings with them diverse experience and expertise in venture capital and private equity,” adding “This includes in-depth cross-industry and entrepreneurial knowledge, but what is most critical is their passion for the industry.”
Coming up for its twentieth anniversary, SAVCA’s mandate is to promote Southern Africa’s private equity and venture capital industry both domestically and internationally.
