The African Development Bank is a multi-lateral development finance institution and the premier pan-African organization fostering economic growth and social progress in Africa. To focus and ensure greater developmental impacts for the Bank’s work, five major areas, all of which will accelerate its delivery for Africa, have been identified: Light up and power Africa; Feed Africa; Industrialize Africa; Integrate Africa; and Improve the quality of life for the people of Africa.
The Division Manager, Strategy & Transaction Support (PINS1) ensures the delivery of robust, strategic business development efforts to grow the Bank’s business and impact sustainably by promoting private sector development and growth. S/he identifies areas in which the Bank can catalyse market development through innovation, leveraging a deep understanding of local markets and best practices. The Division Manager fosters relationships with clients and colleagues to facilitate effective knowledge transfer and best practice. A proven leader in private sector development, the Division Manager creates increased awareness of the Bank’s private sector agenda and serves as a visible representative and advocate for this work in high-profile events and engagements.
The Division Manager reports directly to the Director of Private Sector Operations within the Vice-Presidency for Private Sector, Infrastructure and Industrialization. S/he leads several small teams that form the Division, including Non-Sovereign Operations Strategy & Technical Assistance Support; Global Client Management; Transaction Structuring & Modelling; and Equity Origination Support. Under the leadership of the Division Manager, these teams promote private sector development by delivering private sector strategy, policies and guidelines; global client management; transaction support; technical assistance support; risk mitigation and credit enhancement.
The successful candidate will bring substantial experience in private sector development, gained in a DFI context. S/he will have strong investment experience and will be highly analytical, strategic and client service-minded. S/he will bring seniority, energy, and vision.
