Kenyan private equity fund manager, Catalyst Principal Partners, has boosted its investment advisory team with the appointments of two highly experienced investors, Andrew Reicher and Jim Seymour. Reicher will serve as Chair of Catalyst’s investment committee, while Seymour joins the private equity firm’s board of senior advisers.
Both will bring extensive experience to bear on Catalyst’s investment activities. Andrew Reicher is currently the Chair of Berkeley Energy, which hit its $200 million hard cap when it held the final close for Berkeley’s Africa Renewable Energy Fund in September this year. He has over 20 years private equity investment experience, having worked for the CDC Group and later Actis, once is had been spun out of CDC, where he was the Chief Investment Officer and Head of Actis’s first infrastructure fund. Later he was the Chief Executive Officer of Globaleq, the electricity generation company operating in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Jim Seymour is the Managing Partner of Pontefract Global Strategies, a consulting firm that advises investment management firms in emerging market private equity opportunities and global best practices with an emphasis on social impact investing in frontier emerging markets. During his almost 40-year career investing in emerging and international markets, he has worked for a number of leading organizations, including Commonfund Capital, managing international and emerging markets private equity fund-of-funds, EM Global, a Washington-based private equity firm and Bankers Trust, where he worked in many emerging market regions. He has served on many international emerging markets private equity fund advisory boards.
