André Roux, Founding Partner of Ethos Private Equity, has been appointed as a Senior Adviser to industry association EMPEA and Chair of its Africa Council. The Africa Council is one of the association’s longest-running leadership councils and was previously chaired by Henry Obi, Chief Operating Officer of Helios Investment Partners.
It’s not the first office held by Roux at EMPEA. From 2004 to 2013 he served on the Association’s Board of Directors, having been among the Founding Members of EMPEA representing Ethos when the Association was launched in 2004.
Well-know and widely-respected as a pioneer of South Africa’s private equity industry, he founded Ethos in 1984, following a career which included being Chief Executive of FirstCorp Capital Investors and FirstCorp Merchant Bank. Today Ethos is currently investing its sixth fund, a R8.6 billion investment vehicle that was raised in 2011. He stepped down from being the Chief Executive of Ethos in December 2013.
