Overview.
Africa Capital Digest (africacapitaldigest.com) is a website (“Site”) and newsletter service owned by Rowayton Press, LLC, (“we” or the “Publisher”) a limited liability corporation registered in the State of Connecticut. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) outlines how your personal information (“Information”) is collected and used by the Company when you access content at Africacapitaldigest.com or through any of its other information products and services, (“Products”), whether they be in printed or digital formats or in-person at live events
Rowayton Press takes your privacy concerns seriously. This Privacy Policy outlines what information is collected when you visit the website or register for or buy any free or paid for products and services offered by the Publisher. Please read this policy carefully to understand the policies and practices regarding the collection and usage of Information.
The Site and its Newsletters contain links to websites hosted by third parties. The Publisher is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of such third-party websites. We encourage you to be aware when you leave the Site or a Newsletter and to read the privacy statements of each and every website that collects Personally Identifiable Information (“PII”) about you.
By accessing the Products, the User (“you” or the “User”) agrees to this Policy and out Terms of Use. If you do not want the Publisher to collect and/or use your personal information, then do not access the Site or use any of the Publisher’s Products.
Changes to this policy.
The Company may at any time make changes to this policy to reflect changes in the Company’s practices, Product and Service offerings and market regulations. When the Policy changes, the effective date at the beginning of the Policy will be updated. The Company will not advise you of any future changes made to this Policy. Continued use of the Company’s Products and Services after a Policy change is deemed acceptance of those changes, so you are encouraged to visit this Policy from time to time to check for any updates.
Collection of Information.
The Company collects Information about you and the organizations you represent through personal information you provide to the Publisher and non-personal information that we automatically collect through technology. In addition, Information may be collected by third party partners, including, but not limited to, Advertising Agencies, Research Companies, Marketing Firms, Social Media firms and other partners.
Personal information is collected when you use, register, subscribe, purchase or otherwise sign up for any of the Company’s products and services or engage in correspondence with the Publisher’s employees. Information collected may include (but is not limited to) your name, your mailing address, your phone numbers (including mobile or cell phones), your email address, user names (including social media user names), billing and financial information, demographic information, and more. We may add other information collected from partners to enhance the Information that your provide to the Publisher.
Non-personal information is collected anonymously through technology such as third party cookies, web beacons and other similar technologies. No PII is collected using these methods. Information collected may include, but is not limited to, Hardware and/or Software information including, but not limited to, geographic location, IP address, browser type, operating system. Bandwidth, etc., Analytics information including, but not limited to, time spent on site, number of pages viewed, referring webpage, browsing information, social sharing etc., Advertising information, including, but not limited to, the types of advertisement seen, the number of times an advertisement was served, the pages on which the advertisements were served etc., and Information collected through cookies, web beacons and othe similar technologies.
Approved third party partners may also collect Information although none of o the information contains PII. Information collected by approved third party partners may include, but is no limited to, demographic information such as gender, age, job title, household income etc., advertising information such as clicks, interaction, post-impression performance data, research information collected by firms such as Comscore, Nielsen, Quantcast etc and Social Networking information collected by Facebook. LinkedIn, Twitter etc.
Cookies – A cookie is a small piece of information that is placed and stored on the hard drive of your computer; it can help identify that browser during interaction with Web sites. The cookie(s) may be used to provide a more personalized experience, track your preferences, conduct research, assist in identifying fraud, track your historical use of the Site, limit your access to certain products, if necessary, and more. Information Usage.
The Publisher uses the Information collected in a number of ways, including, but not limited to, the following.
The Publisher may aggregate users’ Information to improve the content, design, and value of the Site and other products and services; understand how users are using the Publisher’s Site and products; enable the Publisher’s audit bureau to verify claims of the Site’s traffic and usage; and help partners assess the suitability of Africa Capital Digest and its audience. The Publisher may also aggregate user Information to understand more about the interests of users, and may use the Information to offer goods and services of interest to users.
Mailing addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses and Social Networking profiles and handles may be used to deliver the Publisher’s products. They may also be used to promote other products of the Publisher or its partners, gather feedback, collect editorial ideas, conduct research, acquire other information related to the Publisher, and more. Mailing addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses may also be used by the Publisher to collect qualification data, and may be used by the Publisher and its partners for promotional purposes. This Information may also be rented and/or licensed to select outside firms for promotional purposes. You can opt-out of most communications, or can cancel your subscription to Privcap.
The Publisher may collect financial information such as credit card information, is used primarily to verify credit and collect payments for purchases, orders, and registrations. The Publisher uses a third party to process credit card transactions, and does not store financial information on its Web site.
The Publisher uses personally identifiable information to deliver customized products to you. The Publisher may use partners to deliver email messages and other products. Your Information, such as email address, that is provided to these partners is only used for that purpose, and not for any other business activity. In order to comply with the Federal CAN-SPAM Act of 2003, the Publisher may provide lists of users who have “opted-out” of Africa Capital Digest or derivative products, to ensure they are suppressed from appropriate mailings/delivery. When you opt-out or unsubscribe from a Rowayton Press product, removal instructions may be supplied to the partner or third party. Transfer.
In the event that the Publisher and/or Africa Capital Digest are sold or transferred, all Information and data—including personally identifying information—will be transferred to the new owner.
Disclosure.
The Publisher may also use or disclose PII if the disclosure is reasonably necessary to satisfy applicable legal, regulatory, or enforcement requests; to enforce agreements with users; to address fraud or security issues; or to protect against harm to the rights, property, or safety of the Publisher, its employees, partners or customers.
Security.
The Publisher takes commercially reasonable precautions to protect your Information. Always be careful when entering financial or personal information, and never share passwords.
