Dangote plans Nigerian gas boost with private equity help

Aliko Dangote is planning to build pipelines with the financial backing of investors that may include The Carlyle Group and Blackstone which will quadruple the supply of natural gas to Nigeria. Bloomberg quotes Dangote as saying that “We have a lot of companies who are very interested in participating.”

In August 2014, Carlyle and Blackstone announced that they would work with Dangote Industries to invest in sub-Saharan Africa. The two, sub-sea, 550 kilometer pipelines would run between the Niger delta and the capital city, Lagos.
