Michael Denenga, the founder and director of specialist funds and financial services law firm Thip Denenga, has joined Dentons’ Johannesburg office as a Senior Partner in the international law firms’ banking and finance practice. A team of three associates from Thip Denenga has joined him in making the move.
In is new role, Denenga will lead Denton’s banking and finance practice in South Africa. An experienced finance and investment funds lawyer, he has structured hedge funds and private equity funds in a number of jursidictions including South Africa, Namibia, Mauritius, Cayman Islands, Luxembourg and Guernsey. He has advised on the new hedge fund regulations and licensing, has been involved in establishing two MANCO platforms under new hedge fund regulations, and has advised on a broad range of international regulations applicable to cross-jurisdictional fund structures.

Prior to founding Thip Denenga, he had been a Partner at Webber Wentzel and had also work in the treasury departments of both Standard Bank and Investec Bank.
