Bahrain-based GFH Financial Group has tapped Hammad Younas to be the bank’s new Head of Investments. In his new role he’ll lead asset management, private equity and corporate investment activities for the group, whose operations are focused on the GCC, North Africa and India.
Most recently, Younas served as CEO of EY’s Corporate Finance business in Bahrain, where he also lead the group’s transaction advisory services businesses. He brings more than 18 years of experience to the role in the area of Islamic finance as well as the areas of conventional investment banking, commercial banking, private equity, real estate and hospitality investment.
Over his career he has advised many public and private sector organizations on a variety of regional and cross border transactions in the MENA region, the USA, Europe and South Asia. In addition, he has provided clients with strategic advice on market entry, capital raising, investments, M&A, divestitures, restructuring and return optimizations.
In welcoming him to GFH, the Group’s CEO, Hisham Al Rayes noted that Younas’ “…deep Islamic banking roots, coupled with extensive structuring and transaction experience…” would position him well to play “…a key role in further shaping and implementing the Group’s strategy and effectively managing and developing unique, new investments.”
